Why is the word "disabled" displayed on my BOQ Security token?

I am getting the disabled message on my security token that I got from Bank of Queensland. Can anyone tell me the reason behind it.

    A token will display the word "disabled" when the battery is low.  Please visit any Bank of Queensland branch to obtain a replacement token.
