my 1986 bmw, only 80,000 miles is "killing" batteries. 3 replaced 14 months.  I left lights on until it died at least 3 times. at first, it would start immediately with quick jump, and/or being pushed, popping the clutch (remedy from back in the day)  the last few times, it wouldn't start even with tow truck jump.  I took it to my regular garage. Mgr (not owner) first said one thing and then another, finally said he rewired something, and billed $286, however, I asked him to call me before he did anything, just please chrge itonly,  as i'm not sure how much more money i want to put into it.  This guy  totally lied and according to the mech doing the work, who told me hedidn't spend any time on it at all or do more than charge it.  after 3 weeks it is again DEAD! and I am crying again.  any opinions/ recommendations? thanks so  much.

well your battery is clearly dead. Seems like this fellow charged you alot! this fellow probably charged you for a battery replacement but just charged it. charges run down after a while.. a battery scale is something id reccomend you borrow from somewhere.. at normal charge a battery scale should read 13.5.. reave your engine and itll go up to about 17.. try this and see what happens.. if your batter read anywhere below 13 on the scale this means its dead.. oh and if it doesnt charge up when you reave your engine, it means your battery generator isnt working properly.. this is a problem that can easily be fixed but some mechanics dont repair it on purpose so that you keep coming back.. just make sure you know whats going on.. if your batter ran dry after 3 week your generator needs to be 'adjusted' remember 'adjusted' not changed..
