hello i work at a bakery,
in the pastery section at work and when i take out a box to put peoples deserts in, i find grey bugs almost the size of flys.
what are they?

    hi there,

    You probably have "springtails" in the order (or Class, depending on who you consult) Collembola.  They are usually quite minute, and, contrary to the name, not all species have the spring-loaded jumping equipment:

      They are fascinating, though, and totally harmless. Unless they are more than a nuisance, I wouldn't recommend any treatment.

    Springtails are generally moisture-loving creatures, though, so I'd check to make sure you don't have a leak in the plumbing or something.

    I have springtails in my shower, but pay them no mind.  They even survive periodic treatments with mold-and-mildew remover and soap-scum cleaners.  If they graze on molds and mildews, I actually appreciate that service
