i have to remove the transmission pan from a 1999 chevy blazer the shifter cable bracket is in the way how do i remove

    Been there!  Looked impossible, but it's not.
    1.  Pop the shift cable off of the transmission shift lever, use a screwdriver.
    2.  At the bracket (attached to the pan) there's a u-clip going into the cable connection.  Pry that down and off the connector. (looks like this:  |_|  )
    3.  #2 above will allow you to use a pliers to squeeze the cable connection (that clip was preventing it from being squeezed) so that the shift cable can be pushed through the bracket.
    4.  Once the cable is out of the way, you can remove as normal.  The bracket has 2 bolts that are smaller than the rest of them.
    5.  Be careful in dropping the pan.  I've heard depending on your vehicle, that you can mess up the innards if you're not careful.  My experience is w/ a 98 Jimmy, and didn't have any trouble after finding out how to get that blasted shift cable out.
