You pose a very good question, and in pictures Jesus is depicted as wearing a cloth of some type, but the truth of the matter may very well be that He was naked on the cross.

Cruxifictions were considered a form of punnishment that was to be humiliating and the more humiliated a person was the better. So it could be that with the open ridicule and mockery of Jesus, the Roman council could have taken this a step further and postured His naked body on the cross to show that our King, Lord and Savior to them was a no-body of value or worth.

Your question further addresses the issue in Revelation where Jesus tells the church that when He comes back not to be found naked. Through out scripture we are told to clothe ourselves with Jesus, or the armor of God ( Who is Jesus) What does this mean?

Jesus clothed Himself with our sins, and at the time of His death, He was not found spiritually naked, but seperated from God for three days because of our sins He wore. The ressurection of Christ, shows that He reversed the effect and now we are to be found clothed with Him. Jesus Christ. This means to be found in Him spiritually, to be righteous through the belief in Jesus Christ the Son of God, and serve Him exclusively.

Adam and Eve's nakedness was a type of Christ, or a shadow of what was to come. God clothed them in their nakedness. They were bare and through sin they were made aware of their nakedness because that is what exposed their shame. Jesus knew no shame, yet He was naked, bare, and our sins could not clothe Him, in stead our sins draped on Him exposed our nakedness. Only God can clothe us, and through the blood and water shed at Jesus' death, we are not clothed in Him.

So, your question is a valid question and in all likely hood, Jesus probably was naked to further prove the point that God provides clothing, and comfort and usually in scripture when something is described in the physical, it shadows the spiritual aspect.

    Hope this helps.

Uh, oops, I should have said... and through the blood and water shed at Jesus' death, we are NOW (instead of not- sorry type o) clothed in Him.
