did some weymann orchesrta banjo models have no decorative flange

My weymann  Orchestra style  2 banjo has no decorartive flange my banjo dealer says it never had one from the time of making is this true ?

    It's pretty clear that not all Weymann Orchestras were supplied with the flange.  I've seen a number of  As,1s and 2s without and with no sign that a flange was ever fitted.  Although most catalogues show all models with a flange, at least one has a photo of Maurice E. Aten clearly playing a flangeless instrument.  Interestingly, a lot of the flanges now extant are actually retro fakes - I've got two like this.
