epson SX515W will not print black even with new cartridge, other colours are OK

   Hi, i had the exact same problem with the exact same printer.
   
   I really hope you solved your problem by now, but to whoever may face such obstacle the post in bottom link really was a "lifesaver" for me.

   Sounds as though you have replaced the Epson Black with a 3rd party cartridge.  This normally results in printouts without black.

   
   

   Answer is simple:  remove all 4 cartridges, close the printer and switch off.  Start the printer, it will indicate that each of the cartridges is missing.

   
   

   Go to 'replace cartridge' - replace all four with 3rd party cartridges (you can use the black one that you have tried already) - the printer will recognise them all as new and full AND will print black and colour.

   
   

    

   
   

   I stick with 3rd party cartridges as they are so much less expensive and the Epson wastes lots of ink when it goes through its 'charging' process.
