SSDs have achieved top speed in reading data but have poor speed in writing data. Here are few tips to optimize windows 7 for SSD.

    • PIO Mode

You must be sure that SSD is not running under  PIO mode. You should go into the Device Manager to verify that.  Then move to IDE ATA/ ATAPI controllers and press all Primary and Secondary IDE Channels.

    • Enable Write Caching

In device manager, press on Disk Drives and find the Solid State Drive there. Then press to open the Policies tab on top.

For performance select Optimize and activate “Enable write caching on the disk”. Here you do not require going for the quick removal option as it will never be removed by the SSD from the computer.

    Windows Tweaks:

    • Moving the Pagefile

Moving the pagefile to another hard drive boost the performance of SSD drives.

Here you need to go back to the properties.  Then Press on the Advanced Tab located on Settings under the Performance entry. Here you need to change the button under the Virtual Memory entry.

All drive partitions on top and the size of their paging files will be displayed by opening the Virtual Memory window.  Here press the Solid State Drive to check the “No Paging File” entry. To set the new preferences you need to click the Set button.

    • Move the temp files

Move to tab under System Properties that has a button named as Environment Variables. Press the button and locate the temp and tmp variables for the system and the user. If they are located on the Solid State Drive then change the path to another hard drive.

    • Disable the Indexing Service on the drive

Right click on the drive letter of the SSD and select Properties from the given menu. Locate the Allow Indexing Service to index the disk for fast file searching line.
