    Believe it or not, the human head actually is quite heavy. Containing the brain, skull and bone structure along with facial tissue and teeth, the overall human head weighs 10-11 pounds on average. The brain makes up about 3 pounds of this with the remainder coming from the other parts. 

   
   

   To get an idea of the weight try holding a 10 lb dumbbell or two 5 lb bags of food or sugar.
