    Before you do anything rash, check to see if the company has issued a re-call on this camera. Call them! I had a Canon that didn't work after four years. Just threw it away since i felt it would cost too much to repair it. Well, there had been a re-call on it and I could have gotten it repaired completely for free.  Sigh...
