Yes, its true. I just found out the hard way. My job telling me that I might have to get a GED to keep my job.

Yes they did. I too also found out the hard way. Getting denied by a college that I had applied to. They told me to get my GED and come back. It was humiliating. They sad thing is that I found out about this school through the college that I had applied to but at the time that I applied to Continental Academy they were still accredited. I didn't know they lost their accreditation until I got denied. I got my diploma from there in April 2010. I am on my way to getting my GED now.

No. Unfortunately, you heard wrong. Through my research I have found that they are accredited and have been continuously accredited by their primary accreditation agency which is the National Association for the Legal Support of Alternative Schools since year 2000. In 2006 they obtained a second accreditation from SACS and WITHDREW from SACS on January 26, 2010. There is a big difference between losing accreditation and withdrawing from accreditation. Continental Academy definitely did not lose their accreditation. For your awareness, SACS is only recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for the accreditation of colleges and universities. SACS is NOT recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for the accreditation of any public or private elementary or secondary schools. My son earned a SACS accredited highschool diploma from an online high school similar to Continental Academy and the MARINES DID NOT ACCEPT HIS DIPLOMA! SACS accreditation was worthless and useless for my son. Know the facts – check out the reality at this link http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/accreditation_pg2.html#U.S.
Note: The U.S. Department of Education does not have the authority to accredit private or public elementary or secondary schools, and the Department does not recognize accrediting bodies for the accreditation of private or public elementary and secondary schools. However, the U.S. Department of Education does recognize accrediting bodies for the accreditation of institutions of higher (postsecondary) education. If an accrediting body which is recognized by the Department for higher education also accredits elementary and secondary schools, the Department's recognition applies ONLY to the agency's accreditation of postsecondary institutions.
