i have a maxtor basics 500gb usb drive but no computer will recognise it i have tried different usb leads what else can i do?

    Have a look on ebay for 'Seagate repair service', they may be able to help you.

    drive is may be ok. I had same problem dismantled enclosure and drive inside worked fine in new enclosure.
