There are two possibilites available to get insert smart chip (sim card) error message.

1.You mobile phone receives weak signal from near tower so try to Swich off your mobile, wait few seconds and switch on.

2.Your mobile locked to particular network provider.

3.Try to check your sim position whether it's correct ot not.

If your problem presists after switch on your mobile phone, definitely your mobile phone restricted by some network so try to unlock your mobile phone. You can unlock your mobile phone using network unlock code. It's the best way to unlock your phone. If you need an unlock code for your Lg Vu phone visit http://www.simpleunlocking.com/lg-vu/rs16wp9/ and you can get free unlock instructions from http://www.mobileunlockguide.com/lg-vu   I hope it will be very useful to you.

try putting the fone in the freezer for about 15minutes this will work until you get a new one. Make the sure the battery is fully charge when you do it, make sure the fone is turned off and everything that you need is it it (sim card, sd card). When you take it out of the freezer turn it on as soon as possible. It should work. Do not turn the fone off after this.

put a little piece of paper between the phone and card, the top part of the card, not the part that connects to the phone. this will push the card harder on phone card reader thing, which is usually the problem in these situations.
