my machine model # km500maf not making alot of ice

model km 500maf serial ka6559j  it is making about 30 ice cubes in a 4o min period. it has a green light on upper rt hand side it is the 4th light at the bottom which is lit up. can this machine operate without a filter? I took the filter out to see if that wasthe problem it hasnt been changed in a very long time.running without the filter didnt do anything different.

    ry cleaning the condenser on the back of the machine.(it kind of looks like a radiator on a car)Brush it out and if possible blow it out with Co2.
