just researching it myself. depending on the machine, yours might produce a cycle when first turned on , and then go out on bin full. on most machines , there is a reed switch on the water curtain. The water curtain is a flap which stoppes the water that cascades over the mould from splashing into the ice bin.

The reed switch is a magnetic switch that closes in the presense of a magnetic field. The switch may be located near the water curtain, and the magnet may be on the water curtain.under normal operation,  when the water curtain is open for a period of time, (usually seven seconds) it will signal to the processor on the board , that the bin is full and it will shut down. The curtain will stay open when the ice bin is full all the way up to the curtain and holds it open. When open  your bin full light will come on and you will get no more ice made until curtain closes.

Reasons for this may be.. - that the reed switch has failed, there may be a loose wire at the board or reed switch, there may be a faulty wire, cold solder joint on the board,  a dislodged magnet or reed switch that may need to be re positioned (5 to 15 mm apart should do it) ,  or the curtain may be held open by some sort of obstruction.

in answer to by passing the bin sensor. if the sensor is a common reed switch, it is possible to short out the terminals where it plugs in or is soldered or wired to the board. this will give the same signal to the processor that the reed switch would when it is closed, (ie , when the curtain is closed), how ever, the machine will continue to make ice until it spilles out on the floor, or until you turn it off.

if you decide to test the reed switch , you should be able to open and close the water curtain and mess around with the reed switch , while watching the bin full light. when your sensor is in the right position, or working, the display light should go off.

also , look around on the net for a service manual, there are heaps of them on there. you might find your model.

hope all this helps. they can be barstards of things
