   Hi,
   Seth Cook was born with progeria, a rare genetic disorder that causes rapid aging, leaving him a boy of 11 with the body of an 80-year-old. Seattle Post-Intelligencer reporter Carol Smith and photographer Dan DeLong spent a year following Seth and his family. Their special report, "A Time to Live," ran last Thursday. Since then, we've received more than 200 e-mail and voice-mail messages from readers who were moved by Seth's story.

   One man wrote, "Actually, I'm about Seth's age, but it took me 80 years to arrive at that point." Another wrote, "Broke my heart and then mended it, all at one time." A class of fifth-graders wrote directly to Seth. So did a professional Santa Claus. Many people have offered to share what they could with him, from Xbox games to a day shadowing a firefighting crew. Fellow Bigfoot aficionados offered to correspond. A doctor shared his secret for nabbing the lizards that Seth had said were too fast for him to catch.
   
   Scientists, who only recently discovered the genetic mutation that causes progeria, have already learned a great deal about the process of aging from studying the disease. But here is a sampling of what some readers learned about living from reading about Seth.
