    Hi,
Everyone's skin deals with the trauma of a tattoo differently. Some people bleed, swell, and welt more or less than others.  I'm going out on a limb here, but i'm guessing the first couple of steps are the hardest for her, then it gradually gets less painful as she "walks it off", and if she stands on it for an extended period of time, it will throb. It might even feel hot to the touch. As i mentioned earlier this isn't quite a "normal problem" but it does happen often.

A few things she can do to ease the pain are these:
*take 800mg of ibuprofen every 8 hours (anti-inflamatory will ease swelling)
*put an ice pack over the tattoo wrapped in perhaps a clean cotton t-shirt(or a wash cloth if a t-shirt is too thin)
*when resting try to keep the leg elevated above the core of the body.(put the leg up on some pillows)

All swelling should be gone within the next few days.

As for the color and scabbing issues,  there are a lot of possibilities. The colors with thicker scabs could be more 'solid fill' as opposed to just shaded, or, there might be more than one color layered (ie. dark green, medium green, light green, and yellow to create a 3 dimensional look). It could just be that her skin reacts differently to different chemicals in different colors.  The only thing she can do at this point would just be to wait out the color scabbing and see what happens, and keep her eyes peeled for any red bumps to appear around the tattoo.
    Thanks
