   If you have Hulka clamps....which are the most commonly used, especially in younger women because they are the most successfully reversed. A tubal is to be considered permanent, because there is no guarantee a reversal will result in a pregnancy.
   
   You aren't getting "unclamped".......you have to have a tubal reversal. When they put the clamps on they cause scar tissue to grow and block the fallopian tube...that is what makes the procedure permanent. During a reversal they remove the clamps, cut away the section of damaged tube, and then rejoin the cut ends of the tubes. Success depends on how much length of the tube has to be removed, how old the patient is, etc. Scar tissue can form where the tubes are rejoined, etc.
   
   Not to mention that it's extremely expensive and most insurance plans will not cover a reversal. The traditional procedure is considered major surgery and has the 6-8 week recovery time and can cost $15,000 or more. A Laproscopic method can be done at a surgical center for around $7,000 or so with a recovery of a few days. Success rates depend on a multitude of factors.
