   Hi,
   Controls on the Marshall "Gov'nor" are: Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble, and Level. A Marshall manifestation from the not too distant past; these pedals can be found, with a little patience. What's different about the pedal? A nice range of tone controls, more precise EQ shaping than a lot of pedals offer, and plenty of gain. Still it doesn't take long before you discover that Marshall's recipe here is intended to cook up a sound like one of their late 80's Amps. A punchy cutting edge you can't possibly miss: Backed by a substantial driving buzzy tone. All you have to ask yourself is: "Do I fancy this flavor for my kit"?
   
   With the Marshall Brand name as a vehicle, it must be tempting to issue a pedal that promises to deliver that "Marshall Sound", or "Stack in the Box" in a pedal. However, why should players shell out major bucks for a "Half Stack", if a pedal sounds just about the same? Of course it can't sound the just the same, but this pedal will help move you in that direction for a reasonable sum. Another similar means to this end: Get yourself a Bartolini "Tube- It" Pedal, (also designed to help bestow the Marshall vibe), turn it up all the way. It covers a lot of the same territory, but is less distorted. In our humble opinion it sounds like an Overdrive version of the Gov'nor pedal. It has less full blown distortion, but it sounds more musical/melodic across the territory it does cover. Plus it has two less distorted overdrive settings. They sound something like a robust Tubescreamer with a fuller frequency range, and more bottom end.
   
   Remember, an important part of the sound of a Marshall half-stack, is the Four Speaker Box. Try playing the Amp you have, gain all the way up, through a closed four speaker box sometime, watch how fast it starts to pick up a bit of an accent.
