IP masking is a customization to your tracking that you can set up to change how Google Analytics uses and stores the IP address of website visitors. By default, Google Analytics uses the entire IP address of website visitors to provide general geographic reporting.

IP masking is a customization to your tracking that you can set up to change how Google Analytics uses and stores the IP address of website visitors. By default, Google Analytics uses the entire IP address of website visitors to provide general geographic reporting. When IP masking is enabled, Google Analytics removes the last octet of the visitor's IP address prior to its use and storage. Note that this will slightly reduce the accuracy of geographic reporting.
