   Here's what the numbers mean:
   
   205 represents the width of the tire tread in millimeters.
   
   /60 represents the heighth of the tire sidewall as a percentage of the tread width, or in other words, 60% of 205mm, making the tire sidewall = 123mm
   
   r means that the tire is a radial tire
   
   16 represents the diameter of the wheel rim that the tire mounts onto.
   
   So.. it is telling you the width of the tire, the sidewall heighth of the tire, and the rim diameter of the tire.
   
   205/60R16 is different from the 205/55R16 in sidewall heighth, i.e. the 55series has a lower profile. The diameter of the tire will also be smaller.
