Equator is the intersection of a sphere’s surface with the plane perpendicular to the sphere’s axis of rotation and containing the sphere’s center of mass. The capitalized term Equator refers to the Earth’s equator. In simpler language, the Equator is an imaginary line on the Earth’s surface equidistant from the North Pole and South Pole that divides the Earth into a Northern Hemisphere and a Southern Hemisphere.

So now going bit more deep into the science than things will be more and more clear because on Equator the sun is the most direct and these area’s are the most hot area of the world. The distance from Equator to the sun is less than the distance from pole to the sun. So sun is most directly overhead at Equator and it’s too hot over in these area especially in summer time.

Even in winter the areas of different countries which are directly on Equator are hot concept of winter is almost zero over there.  Most of the area on Equator are desert due to the direct hit from the sun water vanish away from these areas and they turn dry.
