what time of year to trim sweet gum trees

   Hi,
   The last house we lived in had Liquidambar(Sweet Gum) trees lining the street. Those prickle balls covered the lawn every year. There is NO way I know of to get them to not produce them. I know they hurt. But it's really only a once a year thing. I remember raking leaves for a few weeks, then raking the prickle balls once and filling up 2 or 3 trash cans full. That's what we pay for shade and oxygen :-) Sorry. Good luck.
