   Hi,
   n general the rut can vary widely in Texas from North to South and East to West.
   
   You ask about "East Texas" which would be the Pineywoods section of the state. Most breeding takes place from the last week of Oct. to the first week of Jan. Peak dates are Nov. 22 in the North and Nov. 12 in the South section/s.
   
   As for the "best way to bag a nice buck" that is extremely subjective. It depends largely upon who you ask. In general I would say that still hunting, stalking, feeder/food plot hunting and rattling are all popular/successful methods. Probably still hunting, stalking and rattling are the most popular if not most successful.
