   Ask them to be responsible for progressively larger projects and do it proactivly.
   
   Use them as examples (in their presence) when describing to others how to do something. always give credit to those who do well.
   
   Give them feedback at various times during a project—not just at its completion. on going talks can correct the direction before its too late.
   
   Send a note of praise to them or better still, to their direct boss. appreciate them.
   
   Ask for their opinions and advice on matters not necessarily related to their normal duties, allow them to think and allow them to grow.
