   Hi,
   I know more about wine than I do about Cognac but I enjoy good ones too.
   
   Vintage-dated Cognacs are not rare but they aren't common either as they are always priced at a premium level to attract connoisseurs and gift buyers. I'd guess at $100+ to replace your Martell - but you don't say where you are and it might be better to check at a local wine merchant.
   
   Brandy has an indefinite life and will never turn to vinegar but can start to spoil if the cork becomes damaged and so allows any evaporation.
