Question:

1990 Volvo 240 surging idle

it will start up fine. The idle surges and skips. You can rev it up and it will smouth out but surges when you frist push the gas. It losses speed up hills. I can hear the fuel pump making a wineing noise. I unplug the mass air sensor and it will die. Unplug the fuel regulater and it runs rough. I can unplug the o2 sensor and it still runs fine. Please help i never worked on a volvo before

on't know butKiller surging. Oh, ... In 1989, Volvo did away with the black idle speed s***w, everything is controlled by the fuel ECM .If the throttle plate doesn't ... No adjustments are possible. It sounds like the linkage to your throttle plate may be out of adjustment. I have a 1990 Turbo model and I think yours is very similar.
