As far as I know, Alohabob PC Relocator was yanked off the market after Micro$haft bought it, when XP was still the corrent operating system  They had originally claimed they were going to incorporate it in an updated version XP or in what is now known as Vista but if they used anything from it, it was the ability to move user settings and user files.  They never included the ability to move installed programs but personally I think, they only bought it to pull it from the market, to keep people from using it to move installed programs from one computer to another.

There is another product that is simular to PC Relocator, it's called PC Mover by Laplink, however, it doesn't give you the option to select which programs to move.  It will only move all programs that it's able to move.

I've heard of people using a work around for moving only selected programs but it involves using an intermediate computer with a fresh install of Windows, which you move everthing over to it, deinstall any programs you don't want to install on your target system, then move the remaining programs to your final target machine.

To answer your question about updates for the cable, I don't know if there are any Windows 7 drivers for it, it's possible the drivers for Laplink's cable will work, or you could try purchasing the Laplink USB to USB cable and use it.

When I purchased PC Relocator a few years ago, it came with a regular USB (version 1) cable and could purchase the USB2 cable.  I didn't need it because I used the file method to move from one computer to another.  Using SATA drives was fairly quick but then I'm a little more technicial than most people and am not afraid to open a computer to temporarily connect (install) a drive in one computer, then move it to the other.
