We live in Dearborn, MI. Super high population of Arabic people, as I'm sure you know. We are not Arabic. My daughter has many arabic friends and being 10 years old, would like to have some of them at our home for a sleepover. Most of the arabic parents wont allow their daughters to attend sleepovers although my daughter is invited and allowed to sleepover at their homes. Why is this? Is it religous or cultural?

although i am not arab, i face the same situation. i am generally not allowed to sleepover at friend's houses that are of different background from me.. not that this is a racist situation or anything! you definitely can't take it personally, but generally speaking most of those parents may only feel comfortable leaving their daughters with someone they know and trust. they may just have to be closer to you before they can leave their child with you overnight. it may also be for other reasons.. do you have a dog? many muslims and/or arabs do not consider dogs clean, so maybe this is why. it could be anything like that.

just know that its nothing personal against you, and maybe after allowing the parents to get to know you and your family better they will allow their daughters to sleepover. invite their family over so they can see your house, it will make them more comfortable
