I have recently moved to UK from Pakistan for the purpose of higher studies. I am glad to see that things in UK are quite well organized that I do not happen to see back home. However, there are a few things or to be appropriate a few rules that prove to be quite confusing for me particularly when it comes to traffic. I can consider myself lucky for not driving here otherwise there would have been a fine every now and then. I would like to know that at puffin crossing which light will not show to a driver?

First of all for your information, puffin crossing is a user-friendly intelligent type of pedestrian crossing used in the United Kingdom. The puffin crossing mounts the pedestrian signal lights at the near road side, set diagonally to the road edge. One reason for this design was to allow the pedestrian to keep an eye on passing traffic while waiting for the signal to cross. The other reason is that having the lights closer to the user would help visually impaired people who may have difficulty viewing the signal from across the carriageway. The light which is not shown to the driver at puffin crossing is flashing amber.
