    DW Steyn    0* (0b)      T Henderson    4-0-30-1
19.6 MM Patel to Vinay Kumar, FOUR, slower ball bowled full outside off, makes room and slices it over point, some atrocious fielding by the deep-point fielder there who palms it to the ropes sliding to his left
19.5 MM Patel to Vinay Kumar, FOUR, shot! Bowled full on middle, he's already walked across, scoops it well over short fine for a boundary
Vinay Kumar, the new man in
19.4 MM Patel to Dravid, OUT, excellent catch, slower ball bowled short outside off, Dravid made room and struck it well, slapping it past extra cover, but Warne's right at the edge of the circle and stretches and dives to his left to pluck that superbly
    R Dravid c Warne b MM Patel 66 (48b 8x4 1x6) SR: 137.50
19.3 MM Patel to Dravid, SIX, massive hit! Length ball on middle, right in the slot for Dravid, makes way and swings it over the deep-midwicket boundary, went about 10-12 rows into the stands
19.2 MM Patel to Kumar, OUT, the change of pace does the trick, slower ball bowled full on a length on middle and off, Praveen, predictably, tries to smash that out of Cape Town but didn't pick it well, ended up lofting it really high and Munaf had to take a few steps to his left to take a well-judged catch, took a while to come down
    P Kumar c & b MM Patel 8 (10b 0x4 1x6) SR: 80.00
19.1 MM Patel to Dravid, 1 run, full on middle, drilled down the ground to long-on for a single
19.1 MM Patel to Dravid, 1 wide, short outside off, and it's way too wide, a run gifted
Last over coming up. Munaf to bowl it

0.5 Kumar to Asnodkar, OUT, terrible shot, he's just facing his third ball, good length on middle and off and has a waft at it, looking to heave it over midwicket, mistimed it and it lobbed up towards Kohli at point where he took a dolly
    SA Asnodkar c Kohli b Kumar 0 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
0.5 Kumar to Asnodkar, 1 wide, Uthappa keeps well diving to his right, though he has two slips to cover for him, a bit of a waste really, too wide outside off, and went further with the swing

    Uthappa is keeping

Two down, that target of 134 looks some distance away now
2.6 Kumar to Smith, OUT, Bangalore are on top, pitched it short outside off and Smith was tempted into going for the cut, he slashed at it and edged it straight to Dravid waiting at a widish first slip
    GC Smith c Dravid b Kumar 2 (11b 0x4 0x6) SR: 18.18
2.5 Kumar to Smith, no run, good length on middle, in Smith's zone, just pushes it firmly to midwicket, no flourish there, he's being cautious
2.5 Kumar to Smith, 1 wide, misdirected this time, short of a length outside leg stump and held its line, the umpire initially thought it may have clipped the batsman's pads, but decided to call it in the end
2.4 Kumar to Smith, no run, similar but a little wider, Smith lets it go this time, it's far enough
2.3 Kumar to Smith, no run, testing line on the off and taking it away from the left hander, defended watchfully into the off side
2.2 Kumar to Smith, no run, short of a length on the off, dabbed into the leg side

    Ravindra Jadeja, the new batsman
8.4 Ryder to Mascarenhas, OUT, run out, Rajasthan in tatters now, utter confusion out in the middle, played to point off the back foot and Dimitri sets off for a single but there's absolutely no response from the non-striker, he's more than halfway down the pitch and an accurate throw to the keeper from Kohli seals his fate
    AD Mascarenhas run out 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
    Mascarenhas comes in
Ruder failed with the bat, but he's done wonders with his medium pace here. Rajasthan are staring down the barrel here
8.3 Ryder to Henderson, OUT, the slower one does the trick, bowled at 104.8 kmph, landed on a length on middle and Henderson swung across the line, didn't pick the change in pace, missed it as he was a little early into the shot and the ball crashed into middle

So we head into a break with the champions having a mountain to climb in the next ten overs. Yusuf is their only hope.

11.2 Kumble to Jadeja, OUT, That should seal it for Bangalore, gave it air this time unlike the previous one where he bowled it flat and short, Jadeja got down on one knee and tried to slog-sweep it over deep midwicket, got a lot of elevation and though it was struck well, didn't get the distance he desired, Kohli ran well to his right to take a neat catch well inside the ropes

11.1 Kumble to Pathan, OUT, is that the end now? Kumble pulled it short outside off and Yusuf attempted to swat it back over the bowlers head, hit the toe-end of the bat, skied it towards long-off where Ryder took a good catch running forward

This is a mauling. 134 was supposed to be competitive, but it proved way more than adequate in this case as Rajasthan surrendered meekly. Kumble was the star, but the damage had been done much earlier with Praveen Kumar providing the early breakthroughs, and Ryder chipping in with a couple. Both the finalists from last year have been beaten today, and the change in conditions has set up a slightly different IPL this time around, with the contest between bat and ball being much more closely fought than it was in it's last edition.

This is now the second-lowest score in Twenty20 cricket, and the lowest in the IPL. The score, at the moment, is yet to be updated on the page, but you'll get a list of some of the other abject batting performances. Anil Kumble joins a fairly long list of bowlers who've taken five-fors in Twenty20 cricket.

There's still time left for the presentation, but wouldn't Rahul Dravid be a fair pick for Man of the Match? Kumble did take five wickets, but Bangalore well in front by the time he came on.

Presentation time. Ravi Shastri, as often during the IPL, is a little louder than he normally is.

Shane Warne: "It was pretty disappointing. As champions, we wanted to impose ourselves but Bangalore bowled very well. It was pretty embarassing for us really. We should still have won despite the conditions, batting under lights. We need to have a serious look at the top three or four and some shot selection. We'll work on it and I promise we'll come back better."

Kevin Pietersen: "The boys played fantastic cricket. Rahul was outstanding and Ryder was fantastic. We just wanted to hit it hard, take wickets and see where we would end up. Praveen's a fantastic bowler, very clever. You can't buy Kumble's experience, he's a legend. We'll try to do as best as we can, but there are some areas we can improve in, especially in the batting department."

Dravid is the Man of the Match.

Dravid: "I'm happy with the way I'm hitting it and it was good to get the team out of the hole. This was always going to be a good score in the conditions, you've got to play proper cricket, as it's not going to be easy hitting every ball. It all worked out well, and it was a good start to the tournament. The bowlers responded well and it was just brilliant."

That's all from us folks. It's been an interesting day, and the tournament, on first glance, appears to have been very well received with a capacity crowd at Newlands. We hope you've enjoyed our coverage, and we thank you for sending us all your feedback. Delhi Daredevils take on Kings XI Punjab tomorrow, and the Deccan Chargers face off against Kolkata Knight Riders. Join us then. Until tomorrow, it's Siddhartha Talya signing off from the commentary, and Raghav from the scoring desk. See ya!
15.1 Kumble to Kamran Khan, OUT, five-for for Kumble, tossed it up outside off, Rawat tried to swing it over midwicket, got a thin edge that was snapped up easily by Uthappa
    Kamran Khan c wicketkeeperUthappa b Kumble 3 (5b 0x4 0x6) SR: 60.00
