Can Andy Murray win the US Open? Murray believes he can. Now at number two in the world, Murray is a deserved second favourite to win the US Open behind Roger Federer who is aiming to win an astonishing six straight US Opens.  Federer last lost a game at Flushing Meadows back in 2003 and looks almost certain to make it to the final again this year. If it is Murray that he meets in the final then Murray will be hoping to give a better account of himself following  last year’s 6-2 7-5 6-2 loss. Holding a 6-3 record over Federer, Murray has so far never beaten him in a best of five set match and most recently lost to Federer in straight sets in Cincinnati.

Federer is looking like he’s back to his imperious best, but Murray also looks good and is coping very well with the expectation and backing from the likes of John McEnroe and Andre Agassi.  Will Murray succeed?  The world nubmer two has shown that over the past year he can cope with pretty much anything, and over the next few days we will see whether he can finally win that first elusive Grand Slam.
