I am a student of Ordinary Level studying in one of the best schools in the city. I have been given an assignment by our Biology teacher in which we have to answer a set of questions. I can easily answer all the others as they do not seem very difficult but I am just confused about a single one. I would be really thankful if someone could tell me about the biotic and abiotic factors in a pond?

The biotic factors are related to life and living factors such as plants, animals, fungi and bacteria, all being biotic or living factors. On the other hand abiotic factors are nonliving factors that affect living organisms. This includes the environmental factors such as habitat (pond, lake, ocean, desert, mountain) or weather such as temperature, cloud cover, rain, snow, hurricanes, etc. For a pond the biotic factors are fish, plants and algae, etc. The abiotic factors include temperature, soil and the rocks etc.
