When try 2 format new LaCie Rugged external HD in Apple Disk Utility, get message: Disk failed with error could not unmount disk. Description: Initial attempt at formatting the LaCie failed. I was running Disk Utilities. LaCie showed up as a selectable item. Tried to erase disk and got the following: Zero Disk failed with error could not unmount disk. Tried to verify the disk and received same message. I quit running programs and got same message. I checked in Terminal with Isof/Volumes/LaCie. Terminal said no such file or directory. The LaCie shows up in System Profiler under firewire. I've used the LaCie connectors that came with my hard drive. One for power from a USB slot. Data exchange is via Firewire. Using MacBook Core 2 Duo with OS 10.4.11.

I tried once and it didn't allowed me to do it so I unmounted the HD (ejected) and tried again and worked just fine
