   The New Zealand school year starts at the end of January or early February and ends in December. The year consists of four terms with a break between each and a longer break at Christmas (summer).The school term dates in New Zealand for 2011: The 1st Term will start from Monday 31 January to Monday 7 February, while 2nd term will start from Friday 15 April (110 - 110 half-days) to Friday 15 July (108 half-days). The 3rd term will start from Monday 1 August to Friday 7 October (100 half-day) and the 4th term will starts from Tuesday 25 October to No later than Tuesday 20 December (82 half-days) or to a day in December that ensures the school has been open for instruction for 390 half-days in 2011.
