A friend just gave me her Dial and Sew sewing machine and I don't know how to work it, and it does not have a manual. What information do I need to have in order to figure out whether it works properly or not? I'm a beginner!

    I have a Dial N Sew Sewing Machine that have numbers on it that read J-C 34 and 707 on the steel part of the machine.  I have looked for a model number but could not find it.  I see no zig-zag, just a straight stitch.  What kind of machine is it and is this all it can do?  Could you help me with this?
