I am an 8th grade student and have been assigned a topic for an argumentative essay in which half of the class will write arguments in favour of sunbathing whereas half will write against it. Since I have to write argument against sunbathing but I cannot think of any such arguments that might be going against this particular activity. I would have been much more comfortable writing in favour of sunbathing but somehow this is not the case. I would appreciate if anyone could provide me information about writing an argument against sunbathing.

Writing argumentative essays is a healthy activity that goes a long way not only in polishing your effective writing skills but also your power to convince other on a certain view point of yours. Given below are a couple of points that can be turned into arguments against sunbathing.

    ·         Exposure to ultraviolet radiation enhances release of the pigment melanin into the skin's cells that results in darkening of the skin.

    ·         The UVA-radiation generates oxidative stress, which in turn oxidizes pre-existing melanin resulting in an increased production of melanin (melanogenesis). This melanogenesis is caused by the same DNA damage that results in sunburn.
