Does the tv have to be hooked up to cable tv?

I have a tv that is on cable and one that isn't. I am trying to use my Wii to play free netflix movies but it is on my tv without cable. Can this work on a tv that isn't hooked to cable?

    Yes, if you want to watch TV then cable Tv should be hooked up with TV.
