Check out facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources.
Analyze and verify the evidence submitted by composers before publication production.
Develop story or content ideas, considering reader or audience appeal.
Allocate the theme, events and stories to each writer or reporter for its coverage.
Read, figure out and edit document or other written content submitted for publication and discuss with writers regarding alterations in content, style or organization, or publication.
Examine news-collecting procedures to make sure the utilization of all news sources, such as press releases, telephone contacts, radio, television, wire services, and other reporters.
Constantly organize meetings with artists, typesetters, layout personnel, marketing directors, and production managers to discuss projects and resolve problems.
Manage and interact with reporters and other editors regarding their work.
Make document acceptance or modification approval to the publisher.
Select local, state, national, and international news items received from wire services, based on assessment of items' significance and interest value."
