In May-June 2009, it was the second T20 World Cup taking place in England. After the first inaugural world cup in South Africa in 2007, this world cup was also expected to gain a lot of support from the cricket lovers. Once again, India and Pakistan were supposed to be favorites to win the cup after featuring the final of the T20 competition in 2007. The tournament started with a big surprise as the host England, were beaten by minnows Netherlands in the opening game. This was a big setback for the English side but recovered well after beating Pakistan by 48 runs in their second group match. It was not a very good start for the favourites Pakistan but they recovered well by getting to the next round beating Netherlands by 82 runs to reach the next round. On the other hand, India were off to a good start winning their both opening matches quite comfortably making a formidable defense to the title. However, the Indians could not make it to the final four which included Sri Lanka, South Africa, Pakistan and West Indies. The two Asian teams, Pakistan and India made their way to the finals beating South Africa and West Indies respectively. Pakistan went to the final with strong body language and ended up as the second champions of the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup. The good thing for Pakistan was the emergence of two lethal bowlers including left arm fast bowler Muhammad Amir and the off-spinner Saeed Ajmal.
