Since claiming his first French Open title in 2009, Federer has been in top form. Robin Soderling should not stand in the way of Federer reaching the semi-final where he faces a potential clash with fourth seed Novak Djokovic. Novak is playing like a man who can win the US Open in 2009, but Federer is a man who knows how to get the job done and should be on centre court on the final Sunday of the tournament.

Nadal's preparation for the US Open has not been perfect, with injury keeping him out of Wimbledon but at Flushing Meadows Rafa has proved he can play through the pain. With Andy Murray's surprise exit from the tournament in the fourth round, the Spaniard's side of the draw has suddenly opened up and he will be difficult to stop on the way to the final.
