There are seven detectors in the house - one indicated a need for battery replacement. Elected to replace all seven batteries assuring correct positive/negative connection, and complete door closure. Immediately, all seven detectors began randomly chirping (they had been functioning perfectly before). Removing and resetting batteries had zero effect - all still chirping. Reset one of seven detectors by completely removing detector from base and removing all power, including battery. Depressed test button for several seconds, then reconnected device to base and replaced battery. All seven still chirping. Can it possibly be that all seven 9V energizer batteries are bad? Please help.

I guess that can be a possible reason, i would advice you to use some other brand. As simply replacing batteries cannot solve the problem, you will have to make sure that the batteries you are using are fresh, and are not rechargeable, spent money on some good batteries, it would lessen alot of your tension.
