Constipation is a symptom, not a disease. Generally, every individual experiences constipation at some time in their life, and an unbalanced diet normally is the cause. Most constipation is for the time being and not serious. Let us study how food helps in constipation: Foods that Help Constipation Carbohydrates Increasing wholegrain for example brown rice, millet, buckwheat and quinoa are very good ingredients of convoluted carbohydrates. More vegetables and vegetable juices are the good remedies for constipation. Fats Add fresh nuts and kernels, cold pressed oils and oily fish to provide important fatty acids. Protein Addition of vegetable in diet increase protein (pulses, lentils, rice, quinoa and soya products). Lean, organic chicken, turkey and fish add good animal protein. Include live yoghurt with no supplemented sugar to healthy gut flora. Fibre Plenty of dietary fiber is a good source of gut motility and peristalsis. Soluble fiber retains water and adds bulk to the faeces. Foods having soluble fiber like barley, oats, oat bran, prunes, figs, vegetables, fruits (apples, pears, and banana), seaweed, lentils and pulses. Intake of Prune juice extract or soaked prunes every day can be a good help. Add fiber foods gradually to avert excessive wind. Fluids It is very significant to add fluid intake when including fiber in the diet. Drink two liters of water every day — taken away from meals and drink gradually to bypass stress on the kidneys. For drinks diluted fruit juice extracts, organic vegetables juice extracts and herbal teas.
