Glenn Beck once asked Keith Ellison, the first Muslim congressman, to prove that he "isn't working with our enemies".  Beck also claimed victory after Van Jones resigned last week.  Beck wrongly made up stories that Van Jones had been in prison for six months.
Beck also recently accused Barack Obama of being a racist, and then a communist - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePsTnxI65m8&feature=player_embedded

So, why is he allowed on TV and how insane is he?

The same questions could be asked about Rachel Maddow (who tells as many lies, if not more, than Glenn Beck).  They have an insane amount of similarities-- just on opposite sides of the political spectrum.  Rachel Maddow is to Glenn Beck as Keith Olbermann is to Bill O'Reilly.  Why are any of them allowed on TV?  RATINGS!  There is obviously a market of Obama haters who will watch Glenn Beck for kicks.  Just like there is a market of Republican haters who will watch Rachel Maddow for kicks.  Considering how liberal the rest of the media is, it's nice to have a media outlet (Fox News) that caters to mainstream America (which is more right of the center than left).  Either way, be it MSNBC or Fox News, opinions are being passed off as news, and the viewers are eating it right up...

Rachel Maddow doesn't yell, blubber, or ask for dirt on people. She is always respectful and actually researches her stories. When she is accused of lying, she addresses it on the show.
Also, voter self-identification is not reliable for determining whether America is Center-Right or Center-Left. Individual ideology data and voting records must be used, since people are apparently often too ignorant to know WHAT they believe. Most political scientists (and the last two elections) point towards America actually being rather Center-Left. Read: http://mediamatters.org/research/200811100013
Is Glenn Beck insane? He's a bit off, but most people are. He does, however, have an agenda and ethics that do not require him to tell the facts, but rather to speculate about "death panels", "Manchurian candidates", and "socialist propaganda" and claim them as fact, when really, they are the products of the overactive imaginations of others that he has merely co-opted for his own use.
