HZ 519 Heater is not heating but on-light does turns on

    Hi,
    If you can measure 24 volts at the terminals on the gas valve when the thermostat calls for heat and you don't get flame, then you either have another bad thermocouple or you have a bad gas valve.

    If you don't measure 24 volts at the gas valve terminals when the thermostat is calling for heat then there is a control problem.

    If you can borrow a meter to do this great, otherwise, Radio Shack and Lowes both have pretty good deals on a meter. A base model will cost around $50 and a better model around $100. If you are going to be doing your own troubleshooting you should probably get one because it is very difficult to proceed from here without knowing what the volt readings are at various controls.
