Finding your Tax ID Number

I lost my Tax ID card and now I need to fill the tax ID number in some documents. Can I find it online? If so, where and how can I do so? Please help!

If it happens to be a business Tax ID number there are a few ways of finding it. First of all you may call your state's Department of Revenue who most probably will be able to give you the Tax ID number. However, you may be required to provide other information to accurately identify yourself or your business. Usually, when you applied for your Tax ID there is receipt provided by IRS. If you have the receipt it will always have the Tax ID. You may also check your bank statements or call your bank to see how to access your Tax ID as well as your previous tax returns. When you file taxes for your business, the Tax ID is always included.
