First step that is required is to Download and install Vista Boot Logo Generator 1.2. You will use this program to create your boot logo. Once it has downloaded, follow the screens to install.

Run Vista Boot Logo Generator 1.2 as an administrator. In order to run as an administrator, later you can right-click on the program logo and choose the "Run as administrator" from the menu of options that pops up.

Upload the two copies of the same image into Vista Boot Logo Generator. The images now should be 24-bit color Bitmap images. One copy file must be in the 800-by-600 pixels and the other in the 1024-by-768 pixels. Once the files were uploaded, then save the Vista Boot Logo Generator output file at your desktop.

After this step you need to take ownership of the file. Second step here will be to open the "Start" menu. In the box it says "Start search, then " type in "cmd" and hit the "Enter." This will pull up a screen with a C:\ prompt. Hitting the combination "Ctrl+Shift+Enter" will pull up a full-screen C:\ prompt. Type "takeown/fC:\Windows\System32\en-US\winload.exe.mui" which is next to the prompt and hit "Enter." This will open up another prompt. Now type, cacls C:\Windows\System32\en-US\winload.ex.mui /G geek:F. and then click "Enter."

Copy the file that was created with Vista Boot Logo Generator to the path of "C:\windows\system32\en-US\directory.If the overwrite option appears then type “Yes”.

Open the "Start" menu and then type "msconfig" into the box which says "Start search." This will open up the "System Configuration" window. Press the "Boot" tab. And then click in the box next to "No GUI boot" and then click "OK."

In order to change the settings that you have made to the system, restart your computer, the custom Vista boot logo will not show up.
