We stop all sorts of food/water at 7pm and we do not crate him until around 10pm. But every night we will wake up to him barking and we run to get him to hurry and take him out, but he is barking to let us know it is already a mess. It is never a full p**p either, it is just enough to get us irritated.  What can I do to stop him from messing his crate. We used to put a towel or blanket down, but I just got sick of washing it every single day. Now he is in there with nothing. No toys, No towel...Nothing.

    Hi,
You should put a puppy traing mat on the floor and teach him/her to go on the mat. then whenever you see him start to pee or poo take him outside so he knows to go outside. thats what we did with our chocolate lab. after 3 weeks she never peed or pood on the floor again until she ran away when she was 3....

Puppies are not capable of waiting 8-10 hours to use the bathroom. If you can take your puppy out to walk every 2-3 hours, you may see success sooner.  If like me, you are not able to walk the dog that often during the day, you will see accidents for awhile longer.  My dog was crate trained and until she was 6-9 months old would potty in the crate.  Just have patience and remember, with kids you wait 2 years or so before training!
