I was wondering that how come Alexa.com shows contact details for one of my website, while I never added it myself. Does anyone know how Alexa happens to get contact info for websites?

Finding footprints of a person is too easy on internet and so is the case for a website and that is what Alexa does. When you register a domain, you must have to provide some personal information required by the registrar. Domain registrars and host basically use that information to keep a track of the owner, so in case if there is some legal or other issue, they can track you. They keep some information private while most of other things including your name, phone number and address are publicly visible and open for crawlers and users. Alexa crawler basically crawls this information from your websites whois lookup. If you want to avoid this and do not want to show your identity, you will need to opt for domain privacy that will cost you some additional bucks, but hence your identity will never be revealed to any crawler or human. It’s expensive but useful if you want to be private!
