A scrap heap magnet is an electromagnet which can lift a load of heavy metal. It has a load of coil wrapped around it really tightly to make it stronger. Its normally lifted on a crane and is really strong...simple!

A scrap heap amgnet works as it is an electromagnet. It is an iron core with copper wire coiled around it. This produces a strong magnetic feild picking up heavy metal in a scrapyard.
